three years ago - 25 March 2008
three years ago to this morning i woke up early, prepared for the day, and walked down to the main floor of a ex-royal french residence for breakfast. entering the dining room i saw a lone girl, the girl from the photo i had seen the night before. in that moment everything changed. honestly i'll say i believe i had already fallen in love with her the night before but that morning clinched it. three years later we've been married for nine months and are still shocked by the magic that brought us together.
it's incredible remembering the all the little details and circumstances that prepared us to meet eachother.
it isn't the most normal story, but it's the best kind, mystery, shock, magic and fairy tale all mixed together.
to my friend of three years and my wife of nine months, i love you.
for those of you who don't know, here's the timeline:
january 2004: j staffs ywam school, makes sweet website with photos and visions of all the students / staff
december 2004: m logs into website in preparation for 2005 school, seeing j's photo/info. hopes he's not there so she's not distracted. ;-)
january 2005: m goes to school, j is not there "phew!"
march 24, 2005: m works in hospitality, is told a guy named "mark" will be coming, she should prepare his room + greeting card.
march 24, 2005: j comes to school to visit friends from 2004, sees m's photo, falls on the floor in shock. doesn't meet her that night, already has feeling something is up...
march 25, 2005: j goes to breakfast, m finds out "mark" is j.
march - april: j stays for three weeks, gets to know m, they say nothing but know they are in love.
april 2005: j goes home. much heartbreak and uncertainty.
may - july 2005: j comes back, leads m's team to mongolia, more falling in love ensues.
july 2005: j + m acknowledge their undying love for eachother in paris. yay!
july 2005 - april 2007: many months together but also many heart wrenching months apart, j + m survive the heart wrenching parts.
june 2007: married. in love. amazing.
